MIND & BODY BENEFITS

MASSAGE

Shannon Rubischko

I have been a massage therapist for 25 years and have learned many different styles throughout my trainings. I specialize in Swedish, Deep tissue, Prenatal and Hot Stone. I customize each massage to meet the clients specific needs and charge for my time not the modality. Hot Stone massages are a higher cost because of the time it takes to get set up and clean up afterwards. I don’t charge more for prenatal because pregnant women have enough on their plates and don’t need to pay more.

Massage Styles We Offer

Swedish Massage: This is the most common form of massage, characterized by long, gliding strokes, kneading, and circular motions to promote relaxation, improve circulation, and relieve muscle tension.

Deep Tissue Massage: This technique involves applying deeper pressure to target the deeper layers of muscles and connective tissues. It is used to address chronic muscle tension, injuries, and postural issues.

Hot Stone Massage: Smooth, heated stones are placed on the body and used as tools during the massage. The heat helps relax muscles and allows the therapist to work more deeply. It is often combined with Swedish massage techniques.

Shiatsu Massage: Originating from Japan, Shiatsu involves applying pressure to specific points on the body using fingers, thumbs, palms, and elbows. It aims to balance the body's energy flow and promote overall well-being.

Thai Massage: Also known as "Thai yoga massage," this modality combines assisted stretching, acupressure, and rhythmic compressions. The therapist uses their hands, knees, legs, and feet to move the client into various yoga-like positions.

Prenatal Massage: Designed specifically for pregnant women, prenatal massage helps relieve discomfort associated with pregnancy, such as back pain and swelling. It incorporates techniques that ensure the safety and comfort of the mother and baby.

MASSAGE BENEFITS

Massage therapy offers numerous benefits for both the body and the mind. Here are some of the key benefits:

Relaxation and Stress Relief

Massage therapy is known for its ability to induce relaxation and reduce stress. It helps to decrease the production of stress hormones like cortisol while promoting the release of feel-good hormones such as serotonin and dopamine.

Pain Relief

Massage can be highly effective in alleviating muscle tension, reducing pain, and improving overall mobility. It can help with various conditions such as back pain, headaches, arthritis, fibromyalgia, and sports injuries.

Improved Blood Circulation

The pressure and movement applied during a massage session help to enhance blood circulation throughout the body. This can result in better oxygen and nutrient delivery to the tissues, while also aiding in the removal of waste products and toxins.

Muscle Relaxation and Flexibility

Massage therapy helps to relax tight muscles and reduce muscle stiffness. It can enhance flexibility and range of motion, making it beneficial for athletes, individuals with sedentary lifestyles, and those recovering from injuries.

Enhanced Immune System Function

Regular massage sessions have been found to boost the immune system by increasing the activity of natural killer cells and improving lymphatic circulation. This can help the body defend against illnesses and promote overall wellness.

Improved Sleep Quality

Massage therapy has a calming effect on the nervous system, making it easier to achieve restful sleep. It can alleviate insomnia, reduce sleep disturbances, and enhance overall sleep quality.

Mental Well-being

Massages are not only beneficial for the body but also for the mind. They promote a sense of relaxation, reduce anxiety and depression, and enhance overall mental well-being. Massage therapy can also improve focus, clarity, and productivity.

Rehabilitation and Injury Recovery

For individuals recovering from injuries or surgeries, massage therapy can aid in the rehabilitation process. It helps to reduce scar tissue formation, improve flexibility, and increase blood flow to the affected areas, promoting faster healing.

Important

It's important to note that while massage therapy provides numerous benefits, it is not a substitute for medical treatment. Always consult with a healthcare professional for specific medical conditions or concerns.
